Which Club Is Seeking Torino Defender?

Chelsea are monitoring Torino star Alessandro Buongiorno as they look to further strengthen at centre-back in the January transfer window.

The Blues are one of many teams currently keeping track of the highly-rated defender, The Sun reports, as the likes of Inter, Juventus and Roma are all interested in signing him from Torino amid his impressive displays in Serie A this season.

Chelsea already have a host of centre-back options at Mauricio Pochettino's disposal. Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile and Thiago Silva have all featured for the Blues this season, while Alfie Gilchrist made his senior debut in the midweek win against Crystal Palace and Wesley Fofana is out injured. Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr are also part of the squad. Nevertheless, with Silva now aged 39 and out of contract in the summer, the Stamford Bridge team are looking at bringing in another player.

Torino recently rejected an offer worth £21.5 million ($27m) from one of Europe's top teams as they believe a Premier League team would be able to offer a deal closer to their £35m ($45m) valuation of him. Buongiorno, 24, came through Torino's youth academy to become a first-team star, having featured 17 times this season and scored two goals.
