Newcastle Keep Tabs On Bellingham In January!

Newcastle United reportedly spoke to the family of Jobe Bellingham about signing him before he joined Sunderland and are still keeping tabs on him.

The Daily Mail reports that after following the midfielder's progress at Birmingham City, the Magpies were eager to add him to their youth ranks. But Bellingham, whose brother Jude plays at Real Madrid, was looking for a transfer that would ensure playing time with the first squad. According to the report, Newcastle has "continued to watch Bellingham this season" and may make a new bid for him this year given Sunderland's strategy of developing youngsters before selling them on.

The youngster was signed by Sunderland for an incredible £1.5 million, since then, the 18-year-old has emerged as one of the Black Cats' most vital players, playing in 25 Championship games this season and tallying four goals. If the Black Cats decide to sell him, they will benefit handsomely since a number of Premier League teams are interested in him.

Bellingham is reported to be really hesitant to leave Sunderland in the middle of the season as they try to get into the playoffs, but if they don't make it to the postseason, they're likely to lose him the following summer. Chelsea and Real Madrid are also interested in signing Bellingham, as they see him as someone who could become a top player in the future.

As it happens, Bellingham will soon be in action against Newcastle United when they play Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday, January 6.
