Who Is New Real Madrid Coach?
Real Madrid officially announced that it has renewed head coach Carlo Ancelotti's contract early on Friday afternoon in Spain.
"Real Madrid C. F. and Carlo Ancelotti have agreed to extend our coach's contract until June 30, 2026," read a statement.
"In his five seasons as Real Madrid coach, he has won 10 titles: Two Champions Leagues, two Club World Cups, two European Super Cups, one LaLiga, two Copa del Reys and one Spanish Super Cup.
"Carlo Ancelotti is the only coach to have won four European Cups and the one to have achieved the most victories in the history of this competition (118).
"He is also the first coach to win all five major European Leagues (Italy, England, France, Germany and Spain)," the statement added.
The major development comes after AS reported on Thursday that the two parties were nearing an agreement.
Madrid were reported to be 'delighted' with the Italian, who had told his family that he was still enjoying life in the Spanish capital since being appointed for a second stint in the Bernabeu dugout in 2021.
Ancelotti's future was a subject raised at what seemed to be each passing and pre and post-match press conference as of late thanks to two factors.
The first was because his Madrid terms were set to expire in June 2024, and the second derived from links to the Brazil national team manager post.
Now former CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues appeared to announce an agreement with Ancelotti when unveiling Fernando Diniz as a temporary stop gap in summer.
"[Fernando] Diniz is a coach whose game proposal is quite similar to that of the coach who will take over after the Copa America, Carlo Ancelotti," Rodrigues stated.
At AS, though, they debunked Rodrigues' claim and reported that an agreement between Ancelotti and Brazil was non-existent.
Ancelotti also declined the chance to confirm he would take the post on numerous occasions and made it clear that he was holding out for Rodrigues' Madrid counterpart Florentino Perez to come forward with a proposal.
"Madrid is my priority and if the club offers me to renew, I will continue here next season," he said recently.
Now that has become a reality, and Ancelotti looks set to enjoy at least three-and-a-half season more in the Los Blancos hotseat should everything go as well as it has in recent years
